Armchair Dragoons PAO, 26 June 2026
While they are not directly connected to our events in the Wargame HQ, they are certainly cousins of our and were right across the aisle from us the entire time. The Historical Miniatures Gaming Society – Great Lakes chapter was adjacent to us, and the Warlord Games retail space and gaming space was adjacent to HMGS-GL and diagonal from the Wargame HQ.
As we’ve noted multiple times over the years, the minis wargames are one of the most visually impressive things you’ll see at the convention. We’ve tried to capture as many variations on minis wargaming as we could, from pure historical recreations to historically-inspired fictional scenarios, to bat-shit crazy sci-fi stuff, and everything in between.

Painting Classes & Competitions
There’s the paint-&-take in the exhibit hall, but there’s also a minis painting competition and classes that’ll help you make the best of your minis, plus terrain-making workshops. There’s a lot to admire here.

Uh, Not Particularly Historicals
Ultimately, this is not Historicon levels of variety and quantity, but there’s more than enough here to keep a minis wargamer occupied for an entire weekend, and there was a decade or so where that was not true at Origins and it’s great to see them back in force again.
