Armchair Dragoons PAO, 21 June 2026
As per our usual plans at Origins, we did get a chance at an overhead view of the convention.
most images can click to enlarge
The overhead view gives a neat look at how vast the show can feel for someone being thrown into the deep end, but also give a decent look at how we fit into the space, too.
We were in the main gaming hall again – and fortunately not right up Catalyst’s backside again this year. We had the HMGS minis dudes between us and Catalyst this year
Our space was a total of 21 game tables. 5 were for GMT, 2 each for Catastrophe Games and Decision Games, and 1 each for Fort Circle Games and Ares Games. We also had 7 other tables with a mixture of games from Hexasim, Flying Pig Games, Worthington, Dietz Foundation, Wharf Rat Games, MMP, Clash of Arms, and others. In the middle, we had 3 tables that were primarily for our Kriegsspiels, but were also drafted into use for some larger games, like the student projects from the Command & General Staff College. There were a pair of admin tables, one of which was the raffle prizes and the gumball machine. There’s plenty more coming on the Wargame HQ, but this gives you a sense of what you were looking at in the photo above.
This is the latest article in our series of articles covering Origins 2026 and you can find a carousel linking all of them across the bottom
The exhibit halls were pretty full, but unlike most years, they were not in a nice, neat, straight grid, with plenty of weirdness like Studio 2’s area feeling like a tunnel, or random booths up against the power poles/roof supports. We’ll have detailed photos from within the exhibit hall later, but for now here are some overhead looks. Keep in mind that we got a look at it before the hall had a chance to fill up that morning, so it’s mostly vendors & premier badges you see walking around in here.
