Origins 2025 Coverage – Setup & First Games

Armchair Dragoons PAO, 18 June 2025

Wednesday is a setup day, and usually involves rearranging some furniture.  For the 3rd straight year, we actually had all the tables we were supposed to have, and just needed to move the layout around a bit.

With 20 game tables, over 25 GMs, and 7 different publishers, we had a full plan for the next 4-1/2 days.  Wednesdays used to be a light day to ease everyone into the convention while we would also have a group dinner for the team before the fun started.  Now?  We’ve got 14 games on Wednesday.

“We Are Coming Nineveh” was one of the early games, and we had a full table of 4 players that afternoon

We also set up our admin & raffle tables, and in if the raffle gets any bigger next year, we’ll need another table and/or shelves.

This is only about half of it

As Wednesday and Thursday unfolded, we plowed through all sorts of games and rather than try to tell about all of them, we’ll let you check them out here.  This year, we added game titles to the photos so you’ve got some additional info about what you’re seeing, roughly in the chronological order in which all the games were played.

Also of note — this is just our space.  We’ve got plenty of photos coming later of games around the convention.

Through the end of Thursday, we’d put over 180 butts in seats for wargames across 63 different events, and if you’re scoring at home, we played the same number of games in a day-and-a-half what we did in all of 2023.

Whether we were playing PanzerBlitz with PicoArmor, or playtesting the Littoral Commander: Space Force, or Decision’s updated Blue & Gray box, or either of the Market-Garden games we had, there was carnage, mayhem, and smiles everywhere.

To reiterate: if you love wargaming, why aren’t you here?
