New partnership announced! Blue Panther will be printing a bunch of games for Lock ‘n Load Publishing, starting with some of the older LNLP “thin box” games that’ve been out of print for a while, or ones that were always print-&-play downloads. They’re starting with Wake Island and Bougainville and will be two/month for the foreseeable future. No official word on what this means for the ‘big box’ productions from LNLP like the Lock ‘n Load Tactical series.
Lock'n Load Publishing, LLC., is pleased to announce a printing partnership with Blue Panther LLC. Over two dozen LnLP titles will be available in printed form to both individual gamers and wholesale/online stores. We’re going live to cover for Ardwulf, at 8pm Eastern on 11 November
Hitting the shelves (and webstores) near you now!
- As noted above, LNLP & Blue Panther are teaming up to get some of LNLP’s back catalog back in print, starting with:
- Worthington’s One Hour World War II is starting to arrive with Kickstarter backers and can be ordered on their site
- Fort Circle’s 2nd printing of Votes For Women started arriving in mailboxes last week, and presumably retail stores shortly, as well
- Per one of Avalanche Press’ 9x/weekly newsletters, Panzer Grenadier: Fire & Sword is now release
- Wargames Illustrated #443 is now shipping
- Metal Thunder has released into early access on Steam; it’s basically an AC-130 shoot-’em-up game
- Slitherine has released Scramble: Battle of Britain into early access on Steam; read Peter’s preview here
- Not new games, but Thin Red Line Games has some excess copies of their countersheets for Less Than 60 Miles (2nd edition) and Die Festung Hamburg that you can order
- Warlord Games released a bunch of ship models with variable figureheads & back plates to mis & match on your models
- Steve Jackson released new(-ish?) Car Wars expansions
Time to get those orders in now and then either (a) complain that it’s 2 years late, and/or (b) be surprised when it gets here sooner than you thought
- The Epic Battle of Alesia from Worthington is on Kickstarter right now, and Worthington is rapidly developing one of the best reputations for delivering Kickstarters with great quality, and early
- Emergency Operations Center Board Game – Wildfire Mayhem has launched on Kickstarter
- La Bataille de Kulm from Against the Odds is on Kickstarter, so you can try a ‘small’ LaBat game if you choose
- Sound of Drums launched their Battle Commander Volume I – Napoleon’s Italian Campaigns on Gamefound and let’s give them a light golf clap for doing it on a Tuesday for us 🥳
- Hockey stick taps to Warlord Games as well, for launching their new Vanguard: Normandy game on Kickstarter on a Tuesday; it’s a new game from the Bolt Action! designers with some different mechanics and solo-friendliness
- Compass Games has Stellar Horizons II on Kickstarter; see Ardwulf’s Youtube channel for more on this one
- Warlord Games has a British & Canadian Recce Infantry Platoon for Bolt Action! on pre-order
- Ahead of it’s arrival on the boat, Sound of Drums is offering pre-order pricing on Assault Games’ Assault: Sicily ’43, which includes some dev work from some of our UK-based Dragoons
- Modiphius has opened pre-orders for the first campaign book for their new Dreams & Machines game, Echoes of an Ancient Enemy
- Compass has put the next 4 issues of Paper Wars on pre-order, so you could pick them up individually
Holiday sales are starting to kick in!
- Decision Games’ holiday sale started, with 20-30% off, depending on how many games you buy, through 15 December 2024
- WDS “Game of the week” is Forgotten Campaigns (from the Civil War Battles series) for $29.95

- Miniature Market has Wolfenstein: The Board Game at half price
- If you hurry, you can save a whole 5¢ on Rifles in the ‘Nam over at Noble Knight
- MMP’s holiday sale starts after this edition of the news, and finished before the next edition, and they haven’t even announced the details yet so we don’t have a link to give you and really, those guys just have a lousy sense of timing for not catering to our content production schedule!
This week’s best written coverage from the wargaming world
- Rocky can’t help himself and goes back to Midway

It’s 1631 miles to San Diego, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark . . . and we’re wearing sunglasses
The road trip to @sdhistcon has begun.
Google maps says I have another 23:25 to go while Apple Maps says 22:52. I haven’t looked to see if there’s a difference in route. Both say my immediate future is Montana Idaho Utah. First I have to get down to the border.
Giddyup!!

Focusing on the practitioner world ~ don’t forget about our dedicated area in our forums for the wargame professionals!
- It’s not often that we get called out by name in a “podcast“, but they kind of make us out to be a bigger deal than we are; moreover, this is a wild way to generate a “podcast” out of a professional paper
- Lessons learned while playing the red team
- A report on the results of a leadership development wargame
- How do you wargame out the incremental upgrades in capabilities, such as hardening drones against jamming?
- US Strykers vs Norks
- This week, Mick Ryan’s Big 5 talks about ways to graphically portray changes in military situations
- The next GUWS webinar is tonight – Transforming Policy into Digital Games: From AI to Plastic Pollution; the next one is Understanding Educational Wargaming in the Military Sector on 17 December and then Wargaming for the Social & Cognitive Sciences on 21 January
- PaxSims relays a report about unhinged conspiracy nuts torpedo’ing a professional exercise gathering; one of the complainers sent an organizer an email asking “do you think we are stupid” –– yes, yes we do. Because you are.
In theme with remembrance we are inviting @ww2hist on 21 Nov to talk about how the legacy of WW2 continues to shape Western Defence discourse today. Sign up here: https://t.co/SmrJRhae5Q pic.twitter.com/hTPjTFzOuo
