We’re bringing back the FL(W)GS Spotlight series, and you might’ve noticed from Mythic Games hitting the front page this weekend. What’s coming up? Stores in Tennessee, Ohio, and California, among others. Nominate your local store with our quick online form and check out the full directory here
Remember that we need you to submit photos of the store, too! We need at least one of the front of the store (so people know what they’re looking for when they go) and a handful of the inside – what’s on the shelves, the playing area, etc. We don’t need pictures of people sitting around tables, and we don’t need pictures scraped from the store’s social media. Take you own photos! If you can’t upload them to the form, drop us a line in the forums or our Discord and we’ll give you alternate ways to get the photos to us.
Hitting the shelves (and webstores) near you now!

- Button Shy Games are reprinting a bunch of their wallet series games, and although the campaign launch doesn’t include things wargamers are likely to be interested in, some of their other games, like Sprawlopolis or Ancient Realm or Battlecrest might be of interest if they get added to the campaign

Something neat from outside the wargaming world we thought was worth sharinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr2CFIBmur0
That’s all for this week!
Be sure to drop by our forums and join the fun, and next Tuesday we’ll drop some more news on you.
Thank you for visiting The Armchair Dragoons and mounting up with the Regiment of Strategy Gaming.
You also can find our regiment’s social media on Mastodon, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and even Threads. (We have an Instagram page and it’s really just a placeholder & redirect to our articles.)
You can support The Armchair Dragoons through our Patreon, also, and find us at a variety of conventions and other events.
Feel free to talk back to us either in our discussion forum, or in the comments below.
I attended the WBC a few years ago and I can’t say it was a good experience. The trouble started almost as soon as I got to the hotel: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/RYk3JkjrUwI
Why TF does this software always ask me to confirm my subscription every time I ask it to email me new posts and comments?
And why doesn’t it remember my email address?
Not sure. After you have several comments approved, it should Auto approve them from there.
It’s not asking us admins to approve anything. Do you have a WordPress account that doesn’t stay logged in? That’s the only thing I can think of
I’m happy to look into whatever technical headaches people are having, but there’s nothing holding your comments for approval on our end. They’re going straight through
I need a WordPress account?
I’ve been typing in my Email address and name with every post for a couple of years and I thought that was all that was needed.
Never mind, not worth it for the few comments I make here.
To add, auto approve is not the problem. My comments are always quickly approved.
What I’m questioning is that when I select “Email me new posts”, I always get requests to confirm my subscription, or some such. Yeah, I guess this is a WordPress issue, but I’m not about to “register” or “subscribe” to yet another near-useless online entity that I subsequently have to keep track of. First World problem, never mind.
I wonder if you’re getting that based on looking for follow-up comments on a specific post, rather than across the site as a whole?
I’m with you on the “first world problems” thing, but as a software guy in my day-job, the behavior seems weird and I’m trying to understand what could be causing it. That usually comes back to understanding the req’s against which the functionality was written.
Either way, it’s piqued my curiosity enough to investigate further to try to understand the behavior, so I’ll keep looking into it when I get off the road next week (currently in CA with family)
Oh, I didn’t know you were a software guy in real life, so starting right now I’ll keep closer track of exactly what happens. I’ll select all three options below, including “Instantly” and get back to you with precisely what happens. I think it would probably help if you responded to this post in some way.
One box I’ve never filled in is “Website”, because I don’t have one and which is labeled as “Optional” anyway.
testing a reply
(are you asking the site to “Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.” ??)
Yes, and I cut-and-paste my Email and Name every time, as well as turning on “Email me new posts” (Instantly), “Email me new comments” and “Save my name…”.
I have not had any emails or notices sent to me at all for this particular Tuesday Newsday page.
OK, testing the behavior of the site w/ a “test” acc’t that is not tied to this site in any way, I tried to subscribe to updates from the site.
I got an email asking me to confirm that subscription
Have you received these also? You hadn’t mentioned them up ’til now, so I wasn’t sure.
I BELIEVE I’ve gotten those, more than once, which in itself shouldn’t happen I don’t think. (It should only happen once, right?)
I have not gotten anything in my email in regard to this particular page. No new comments or posts (what’s the difference anyway?), of which there have been a few, no requests to confirm my subscription, nothing.
Brant, do you have an email contact listed somewhere? The next time I do get a notice of some kind from WordPress, we could discuss it privately. It’s a little awkward doing it here.
Also, fyi, I’ve been on the internet since 1992, since before it was called the internet, so I’m not new to dealing with various subscription issues, although they are of course always chaning things. I’m just saying I’m not a total noob.
I’ll message you at the email attached to your comments. Look for something coming from a gmail acc’t
