This week has been mainly indecision week - I did have a python, unengineered, and of all my ships probably liked this the most - I put some guns in it and went hunting - I got my ass handed to me at a nav beacon by a pirate called Dave Wilkins - I will not forget his name - and the neighbours will bear testament to his name as I shouted ‘For fucks sake Dave Wilkins’ shortly before i disintegrated….. anyway this led me to realise the python may not be for fighting - or at least my python so I rebought the krait 2 and went blasting - all well and good - but it wasn’t the python

It’s purely aesthetics and love - the krait 2 does almost everything the python does slightly better and more but to look at a python, it’s a mini anaconda which is my favourite ship - so I sold the krait 2 and got the python again - only this time we headed out to the engineers - the python now is a death dealing no mercy weapon of mass destruction even in my hopeless hands - indestructable and deadly to all NPCs and I love it to bits again

For more weapons of carnage I need to increase my combat level so with a healthy balance of around 700m I have hung up my trading trousers and have turned to the combat side of things - I can use the python or the half engineered anaconda for this and then get new pew pew toys once levelled up

The anaconda is a stand off missile boat with 2 lasers to strip shields and 6 seeker missile hard points - the lasers are engineered to be heat vent which means if I hit you the heat that I’ve generated firing the weapon is transferred to you which overheats you and cools me down so I become harder to spot on radar and then after overheated and stripped of shields come 6 missiles - 2 stop your engines working so you can’t escape and the rest destroy the ship

The python has the same lasers but 3 multi cannons - one firing corrosive shells causing the other 2 to do 20% more damage and the other 2 doing incendiary damage taking down shields as well as armour and all 3 been overcharged to cause more damage

With engineered shields and armour, power and weapons you’re like a wolf in a sheep pen

This week has me engineering the ships a little more, dipping in and out of the 3 resource gathering areas of the game which I quite enjoy and then back into combat to test the results

I’ve flown a lot further - the power plant engineer is a good 15 jumps from where I consider my home system to be and then the various round trips to the other ones

I missed a 30m credits delivery mission by 34 seconds on Thursday whilst the servers were down - I literally entered the delivery destinations star port and failed while docking - I did my best but the servers were down too long - lesson learned - never leave a mission in the system and switch off

Weirdly or rather entertainingly the mission giver actually sent pirates after me a few times who were giving the warning that important people don’t have the time to be messed around - loved it

I entered the elite forums this week - never again - what a bunch of moaning clowns there are on there - the crux of the issue been they don’t like the grind - I get that - so don’t grind - the colonisation is rubbish because of all the work you have to do and so poor results in the end?

I’m sorry - are fdev making you play this game against your will?

Waaaaaahhhhhh I’m not enjoying myself - errrr - there, there’s actually a stop playing button any time you need it

I’m either getting old or people are dicks

This week there has been pirate hunting in my python - I find my combat score goes up faster in the python than it does the anaconda - I’m guessing that’s because everyone is out matched by the anaconda but the python is a fair fight

I need to unlock engineer XXX for frag cannons but to do that I need to unlock engineer ZZZ who builds frame shift drives - I’m already maxed out on FSDs so I either sell one and start again with this engineer or…….

Buy a new ship!!!!!

The python mark 2 - oh she’s beautiful much more combat oriented than the mark 1 with 4 large hard point and 2 medium - looking around this ship is perfect for frag cannons - engineered to be oversized and incendiary it’s a sawn off shot gun in space - that’s my current mission at the moment - upgrading the mark II - ‘nightfall’ and then more pew pew

The black pig (t9), inky blackness (python) and murky darkness (anaconda) are all sat ready for whatever’s needed next

Nice!  Which version of the Mark II did you get?

(For some reason, I'm having trouble finding actual screenshots.)

I’m taking advantage of what appears to be a bug - some engineers require a lot of prerequisites - sell this, kill that, mine the other and some can be a real pain in the ass - an almost compulsory upgrade is armour engineering and the engineer requires you to mine 500 ore and then bring her 10 Painite that you’ve mined yourself - not hard but a lot of fannying around - I don’t know why but she doesn’t require any of the above - I forget sometimes that my game history goes back 11 years and I’m sure I’ve mined in the past but I certainly don’t have painite on me but she’s still prepared to engineer the armour so hay and sunshine and all that

That’ll be the python 2 all done except some very niche upgrades - just the frag cannons to complete and more deadly pew is on the horizon

That’ll get me to competent as a combat pilot opening an engineer for some stronger laser fizzles - beam lasers that transfer the heat they generate in my ship to the target making me cooler and practically invisible on radar 😈

I haven't had a chance to check it out but it was fun to see this community goal popup today.  I really helps make the universe of ED feel alive and active.

That’s going to be carnage!!

If your target isn’t pledged to either power I don’t know how you’d know which side they were  fighting on

I'm still not pledged to anyone yet. Can't make up my mind.

The fully engineered python 2 is almost cheating - it will pop small craft in one salvo and medium in about 2 - it’s merciless because PVE ai is designed to charge you and ram you and they’re flying into the face of the shotgun of doom

Currently topping up the other 3 ships to peak power, shields and armour

Then I can confidently say I’m happy to reduce my elite time and get stuck into aow4 because giants!!!!!!

You've achieved a lot in quite a short space (no pun intended) of time. :bigthumb:
