Aside from maybe having put on a little weight, I'd swear Johan hasn't aged.
Laith, the YouTuber all costumed up in the above video, offers some more candid thoughts on the game's current state:
Sounds like a big takeaway -- one that's apparently shared by most YouTubers who were given early access to EU5 -- is that the pacing is currently too slow in the early part of the game. He said things don't really start becoming that "fun" until you get past the first 20 years or so.
Another thing he noted is that, at least at the moment, the game doesn't feel terribly friendly to newbies. He said veterans of EU4 (and perhaps other Paradox titles) will probably not have much difficulty learning how to play EU5, but that anyone wanting to get into the series for the first time is likely to really struggle. While we obviously have no idea how correct -- or not -- his assessment is, if there *is* some validity to his statement, then it seems like it would be a major step backward for the franchise.
This is what was stated for release date...kind of feels like 2025 might be a stretch for a release, likely more like 2026.....but who knows.
"We are not saying anything about a release window at this time," said a Paradox rep when asked about a release date. So we simply don't know yet, sorry.
Interesting; I suspect you're right. The lack of a release date implies they don't intend to launch EU5 anytime in the next six months, which further implies the game won't come out until at least Q4 2025 at the soonest.
