If it was planned for today, they probably figured Leo would grab all the headlines.

This is what was stated for release date...kind of feels like 2025 might be a stretch for a release, likely more like 2026.....but who knows.

"We are not saying anything about a release window at this time," said a Paradox rep when asked about a release date. So we simply don't know yet, sorry.

If only I had the money and time

‘Dear paradox I will not be buying your game’

I would dearly love Johann to go into these people’s places of work with a megaphone and stand behind them and go ‘dear supplier I will not be buying your product’ shrug and walk out

What is wrong with these people

Aside from maybe having put on a little weight, I'd swear Johan hasn't aged.

Laith, the YouTuber all costumed up in the above video, offers some more candid thoughts on the game's current state:

Sounds like a big takeaway -- one that's apparently shared by most YouTubers who were given early access to EU5 -- is that the pacing is currently too slow in the early part of the game.  He said things don't really start becoming that "fun" until you get past the first 20 years or so.

Another thing he noted is that, at least at the moment, the game doesn't feel terribly friendly to newbies.  He said veterans of EU4 (and perhaps other Paradox titles) will probably not have much difficulty learning how to play EU5, but that anyone wanting to get into the series for the first time is likely to really struggle.  While we obviously have no idea how correct -- or not -- his assessment is, if there *is* some validity to his statement, then it seems like it would be a major step backward for the franchise.

Interesting; I suspect you're right.  The lack of a release date implies they don't intend to launch EU5 anytime in the next six months, which further implies the game won't come out until at least Q4 2025 at the soonest.

They have also traditionally put their games on presale even if game wassnt being released for awhile so that is another reason it doesn’t feel real close.  And whenever they do publish a date,  it seems with every new major game nowadays there is at least one delay, so further makes me think we could be at least a year away:)

But the only twist is the page says coming soon,  which there are no rules as to how long they can say that, but feels odd  to use it if very far away.

‘So it seems like they took the entire economic system from Victoria, the personality system from Crusader Kings, and the mission-based-research system from Hearts of Iron’

I don’t think I’ll be going outside for the foreseeable future

^I wouldn't say that. They also took the entire 'bug system' from all three as well.  ;D
