Not sure what you mean, though perhaps this bit will answer your question either way:  When the Steam version goes live, the GOG version is supposed to receive an update as well, so that both are essentially the same.

Just meant gameplay improvements or any new bits and bobs

As I understand it, most of the changes are under the hood: more bug fixes, improved map editor, better AI, etc.  There are a few more visible things such as tooltips and UI enhancements as well, however.  You can check out the full changelist here:

I tried the demo and even thought it might have been a great game in the past, I just can't get past the "old " feeling and the user interface.  I often get excited for these older titles that were great in their day, but I struggle playing them now, even though the mechanics might be good.

The game is amazing - if you can get past the old feel

Some of the stuff in there you would wish for in a modern game - the ideas and the mechanics but I get it’s old school

DasTactic and Ben (BATTLEMODE) from Explorminate interviewed Andrew Greenberg, one of the original developers of EFSe, and the main bloke behind the game's recent revival:

I've only listened to part of it so far, but it's been both a pretty informative and entertaining listen.  The guy is a veritable font of knowledge.

Courtesy of the brothers over at LT Gaming, I now own the game on Steam.  Guess I know what I'm playing this weekend.  8)

I've been poking around in it again after some years. It really is a game ahead of it's time and it needs to be updated.

Do I like to play Hotseat multiplayer in PC strategy games? My Steam Achievements for Emperor of the Fading Suns thinks so...
