It's 16:00 on July 1st.

The Union have surrendered Seminary Ridge and McPherson's Ridge to take up a stronger defensive line behind the river.

XII Corps are coming in from the south east for the Union and the Confederates have Anderson's III Corps arriving from the north west.

Loving this lovely simple yet effective system

JD, since you are enjoying Gettysburg, thought you might enjoy this.  S presentation on brigadier "Extra Billy" Smith at the battle by historian Scott Mingus at the Baltimore ACW roundtable.

"We've got the torpedo damage temporarily shored up, the fires out and soon will have the ship back on an even keel. But I would suggest, sir, that if you have to take any more torpedoes, you take 'em on the starboard side."   Pops Healy, DCA USS Lexington.

And here's the situation at the start of 17:00 on the 1st July

Anderson's III Corps has moved up the Chamberburg Pike from the north west and the Union's XII Corps has entered the battlefield from the south east...but appear to be in no rush (they only get 3 movement points last turn)

The last couple of hours were kind to the Union. Lucky die rolls meant good hits and routed Confederates and the Confederates couldn't rally most of their routed units

The Confederates stopped short of attacking @ 16:00 to get artillery in place on McPherson Ridge. The next couple of hours could be bloody for the Union.

Union still holding. Barely.

Slokum's 12th Corps has turned up and is taking up position to the south west of Gettysburg near Culp's Hill.

Sickles' 3rd Corps is heading up the Emmitsburg Rd towards Cemetary Ridge.

The Confederates are taking some damage now. 57 casualties to 50 for the Union.

The Union have Humphrey's 3rd Corps coming in from the south west on the Emmitsburg Rd at 18:00 and the Confederates have Johnson's 2nd Corps heading up the Chamberburg Pike.

Good reading! Maybe it's the picture but I'd really like to see more color contrast between the units. The shades of blue and gray they choose look too close to me.

Yes, that is an aspect of the series that I found a bit off-putting, plus I think that the formation ID colours could have been reduced to a smaller area, as the whole effect is a bit confusing. Its like looking at a paint colour chart!

It's not just the picture - the colours between Union and Confederate forces are quite close.

It's 18:00 on July 1st

Heth's Corps has moved south of Gettysburg to block Sickles III Corps and threaten the Union from the south (black)

Penders Corps moved with them to take up their old positions south west of Gettysburg and Anderson's Corps moved to the west of Gettysburg occupying the space left by Pender (black)

This has left space at the north west for Johnson's fresh Corps coming up the Chamberburg Pike (red)

Early's Corps has moved round to the north east (blue)

Next phase is the Confederate attack

lol...I'm sure none of this is historical. But I don't care. It's my Gettysburg.
