Joking (or am I?) aside, I'm ambivalent on Civilization 7.  Setting aide that (ironically) Civ-style games have never really been my wheelhouse, right now I'm just not seeing anything about this newest iteration to get particularly excited about.  Perhaps that may change, but for now it's not like I don't have plenty of other games to play.

Of course, the $70 (USD) price point doesn't help either.  That, combined with the Paradoxian amount of DLC the game is likely to receive over its lifetime, and I'm perfectly content to wait to pick up the Complete Edition on sale a decade from now.  ::)

This has been my thought with Civ games for awhile now.  Seven looks to be another rehash of a board game to computer.

Here at ACD, we all pee the same color.

Ok, I’m hooked. Up to about 38 hours in and finally getting a feel for the game and definitely getting the “one more turn” feeling. I played most of the day today.

It’s actually a bit deeper than Civ VI. Lots of moving parts. Each age adds on more. Once you get used to the Age transitions, you can prepare and not really lose that much. I can see DLC where they add more ages.

Been playing as Confucius as my leader and then used Han  followed by Ming followed by Qing civilizations. Not very jarring that way. Which leads me to believe they are going to have lots of Civs for each age that closely relate to other Civs in other ages.
Still think we’ll eventually see a switch that lets you play a single Civ across the ages.

^Me too! I have my fingers crossed that the late March patch update will allow for customizable start and end ages, allowing for one or two age games.

I have seen some online chatter that an additional age is being worked on as well - the Middle Ages.

Look at this way:  At least you can be grateful for everyone paying to beta-test the game.  (Maybe it will actually be ready to leave Early Access by the time Civ 8 comes out.)

^I've played it! And like it. And suck at it :)

It would be great to play Civ VII from the ancient era into the exploration era and win in the exploration era.

Still waiting :/

I just don't understand why they did that. Did they have information to say people were bored taking their civilisation from start to finish?

I'm just confused as to why they came up with that tbh.

I think it's their way of dealing with the criticism that the "late game is boring". Their solution was to break one game into several different era mini-games.  ::)
