Yeah. It might be a couple of things - like road network is shite here...and we're so used to "small" distances. When you lot drive anywhere, it probably normally is a trek.

Let me explain it in true, British "whinging" fashion.
Fuel over here is £5 a gallon or $6.34 of your mickey mouse money  ;D  My car does about 30 miles to the gallon and with 200 miles between me and Bovington, it would cost circa £60 return.

It's a 7hr round trip. I'd have to leave the house at 6am to get their by 09:30 (that's if the roads are playing fair - which they often do not). Then I'd be getting back at 9 at night - and driving 3.5 hours after being on my feet all day fills me with dread - so an overnight hotel would be required which would cost around £75-£100.

It's not a short or cheap trip

 ;D.

But - when you get there - it's worth it.  :notworthy:

I visited The Tank Museum in Bovington the week before last.  Awesome experience.  I took a bunch of photos but here is one to show just how massive the JagdTiger is.

After that, we spent last week London.  We visited the Churchill War Rooms museum, and the Imperial War Museum (and did many other things while we were there).  Both of those museums were great.

very cool!  sounds like a great trip

Back in the 1950s the Smithsonian had a Renault tank on the grounds.  It was open and kids climbed all over it.  Then suddenly it was gone, never found out where it went.
