Yeah. It might be a couple of things - like road network is shite here...and we're so used to "small" distances. When you lot drive anywhere, it probably normally is a trek.
Let me explain it in true, British "whinging" fashion.
Fuel over here is £5 a gallon or $6.34 of your mickey mouse money

My car does about 30 miles to the gallon and with 200 miles between me and Bovington, it would cost circa £60 return.
It's a 7hr round trip. I'd have to leave the house at 6am to get their by 09:30 (that's if the roads are playing fair - which they often do not). Then I'd be getting back at 9 at night - and driving 3.5 hours after being on my feet all day fills me with dread - so an overnight hotel would be required which would cost around £75-£100.
It's not a short or cheap trip
