I saw this too and thought it's a no-brainer for me; I'll buy it when it comes out, just because it's faster to set up a Steam game of this than the actual board game

.
That said though, the board game is REALLY not difficult to get into. It looks intimidating as all hell but I found it intuitive and easy to manage. It quite literally holds your hand through a learning process/sandbox scenario and has tons of great reference materials and books within the box.
I'd started writing up an AAR for it but decided like Brant said to step back a bit and get other games to my table since I've been on a tear thankfully in getting through unplayed games. Not sure when that Update Pack will actually release, though; GMT has had it officially announced since September 2023 IIRC and
there's a bit that's changing in the game. I say 'a bit' sarcastically as there's a LOT. But considering the development run of the game, it's not surprising that Gene and company want to craft it and polish it a bit more. I think of it as his magnum opus of sorts.
That all said, though, I don't really find anything broken in the game itself that deserves errata. I think it's perfectly playable as is. So I might get back to the AAR at some point in the next few months. God knows how long it will take them to get the update done and I'd rather not wait several years.
