The next faction DLC, Roots, has been revealed:

I don't think it's the best name they could have come up with, but the "nature rising up" trope is certainly one that can be interesting to play (both as and against).

Update 1.5.5 just dropped today:

https://steamcommunity.com/games/867210/announcements/detail/530966980715349726

The big highlight is simultaneous turns for multiplayer, as apparently that's been a long-requested feature by the community since Early Access.  Two other notable changes are a rework to the Hero skill system, plus improved/more balanced random maps (though for those who prefer them, a "legacy mode" for the old-style random maps will be added in the near future).

And of course, the game is part of the Steam Spring Sale:  It's a hefty 72% off, just $9.79 USD.

Just in time for the weekend, we get our first real look at the unit roster for the Roots faction:

https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/867210/view/532093687037952193

As with the Vanir faction, every unit has a standard form and an upgraded ("evolved') form.

The Fungi is weak, but cheap, and can be fielded in massive numbers with the right research.  Upgrades to the Spawn, which spreads a poisonous cloud around them.

Broken Vessels are "plant-ified" undead, and are obtained by resurrecting fallen enemy units.  Upgrades to Blighted Vessels.

A high-tier support unit, Hearts grant nearby allies increased magic resistance and defense.  Upgrades to Pulses, which also has a powerful ranged beam attack.
