King's Orders is a simplified historical strategy game with an important innovation. You command thy armies by sending letters with orders. Messengers with letters travel the land and can be lost or intercepted. Generals execute orders once received and send you reports the same dangerous way.

This snuck out without much fanfare - for 11 of the kings finest pounds it’s a bargain

It does look interesting; added to my wishlist for now.  Would love to know your thoughts once you've spent some time with it.

Worth keeping an eye on, certainly.

I got this during their kickstarter campaign although didn't do much with it.  Personally, think with the cheap price of $14, presents an interesting way to play the game by pretty much acting as the leader and sending out letters for all game actions, sort of like what probably happened in real life.  If you played Scourge of War series, similar concept as they had using the courier system but of course the orders are much more than just battle related.  Just completed the tutorial and issuing orders is very easy although there is so much depth in orders it might take you some time to go through all the options and become familiar.  It has the typical type of commands for diplomacy, building, war, etc.  I like the fact you aren't just given the information like other games.  For example, to know the status of your army on the field, you need to request a status report which then the general will respond with providing information versus just seeing it on the screen.  When a battle occurs, you receive a letter that describes the battle and its outcome which is kind of cool but there is no visuals of the battler, nor do you have any input, besides ensuring you have the best general/army going into battle, otherwise auto resolved.

No idea how the complete game will play out, but conceptually is a nice idea and since pretty cheap, not a ton of risk to try...but probably will be part of holiday sales if not sure:)

This reminds me of the old game Campaigns On The Danube. You send out your orders via messenger and they can take a while to reach their destinations (if they are lucky enough to even make it there).
